I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. ~ Robert Frost
Had to pop into Derby recently before the roads closed. This is what the Mitchell Plateau track/Port Warrender Road looked like after just a couple of big storms. You can see why they close the road - and the National Park - this time of year. We've now had 150mm since the start of the month. The December average is about 180mm according to the weather records, with January closer to 350/400mm.
There's a couple of abandoned cars on the track at the moment - presumably people going to and from the local community, Kandiwal. One has a broken axel and the other looks like an aborted tyre change. Not a great place to break down, that's for sure. The Kalumburu Road is now officially closed and road access to the North Kimberley is permit only.
