Passiflora...

While the world descends into chaos I'm just going to keep taking and sharing photos as if there's nothing going on out there. Maybe when I get back to civilisation it'll all be over.


This beautiful flower, found all across the Kimberley, shouldn't be here unfortunately. It is Passiflora foetida - or wild passionfruit vine. Introduced from Argentina as a garden plant back in the 80's it is now essentially a naturalised weed. Being a vine it helps spread fire into the taller branches of Eucalypts that would otherwise be quite fire-resistant. It's another good reminder of just how easy it is to upset the balance in these otherwise unspoiled ecosystems. But as a flower it sure is pretty.
