This is Charlie the Children's Python. Apparently he gets his name from the bad habit of eating small children. ;) Otherwise he's completely harmless. This is the first snake I've seen in 5 weeks surprisingly. Hoping to see a few more. I probably would have walked right past this one in the dark except I stopped to check out a Tawny Frogmouth in a nearby tree. Turns out the Tawny Frogmouth was watching the snake.
In case you're curious, it gets its name from John George Children. I think I like my theory better.
